Lal Kitab Remedies Explained: Ranga (Lead), Copper Coins, Gomti Chakra and Rahu-Ketu Upay

Quick answer: Lal Kitab is a 20th-century Urdu text of Vedic astrology known for simple, low-cost remedies (upay). Common ones use lead (ranga) for Rahu, copper coins for Surya and Mangal, and Gomti Chakra for Lakshmi. Many remedies involve flowing an item in running water (jal pravah) on a specific day. Do a Lal Kitab remedy only after an astrologer checks your chart, because the same remedy can help one person and not suit another.

Shreerudra, a Delhi store dealing in astrology products since 2000, stocks the items most often prescribed in Lal Kitab.

What makes Lal Kitab remedies different?

Classical Jyotish remedies use gemstones, mantras and elaborate pujas. Lal Kitab instead prescribes everyday actions and inexpensive items: feeding animals, keeping a metal in your pocket, or flowing something in a river. That makes them affordable, but the timing and the exact item matter.

Ranga (lead) remedies for Rahu

Lead is the metal of Rahu in Lal Kitab. A person with a troublesome Rahu may be advised to flow lead in running water on a Saturday, keep a solid lead ball, or wear a ranga kada. For Kaal Sarp Dosh, a lead snake flowed in a river is a well-known upay. Also see our Rahu Ketu mala.

Safety note: lead is toxic. Wash your hands after handling ranga items, keep them away from children and food, and do not wear a lead ring or kada if you have any skin irritation.

Copper coin remedies

Copper is the metal of the Sun and Mars. Flowing copper coins in running water, or keeping a square copper piece, is commonly prescribed for a weak Sun or Mars. Coins with a hole are used where a remedy asks you to string or tie the coin.

Gomti Chakra

Gomti Chakra is a natural shell operculum found in the Gomti river in Gujarat. It looks like a small spiral "chakra" and is associated with Lakshmi and Lord Krishna's Sudarshan Chakra. Keep 11 in a red cloth in your locker, or use them in Diwali and Dhanteras puja. We sell the white Gomti Chakra (11 big pcs), multicolour Gomti Chakra (11 pcs) and Grade A Gomti Chakra (100 pcs).

How to flow an item in water (jal pravah)

  1. Do it on the day your astrologer prescribes, usually Saturday for Rahu and Shani.

  2. Use flowing water such as a river or canal, not a pond or lake.

  3. Release the items quietly, do not look back, and come home without stopping on the way, as Lal Kitab traditionally advises.

Frequently asked questions

Can I do Lal Kitab remedies without seeing my chart?

It is not recommended. Lal Kitab remedies are tied to the house a planet sits in, and a remedy that suits one placement may not suit another.

Is it safe to wear a ranga (lead) ring?

Many people wear one, but lead is toxic. Avoid it for children and pregnant women, wash your hands after touching it, and remove it if your skin reacts.

What is the difference between Lal Kitab and Vedic remedies?

Vedic remedies rely mainly on gemstones, mantras and pujas. Lal Kitab relies on simple actions and inexpensive items like metals, coins and food donations.
